STAR (Student Action Refugee) are a student-led society who run a ‘Tuesday Night Project’ to improve the English levels of refugees and asylum seekers, and help them to integrate into the local community.

They are opening their usual session to new volunteers, to give you a taste of what the society is all about. If you go along, you’ll be working either one on one or in small groups with refugee students, helping them to work through the activities which will have been given to them at the start of the class. These are only a prompt to get the conversation going though – the class is very informal, and is essentially a chance to have a good chat!

When? Tuesday 21st February, 7pm – 8:30pm

Where? St. Andrews and Castle Gate

Anything else? Don’t worry about finding the class by yourself – one of our Student Volunteering Week reps will be meeting you, and you’ll all go along as a group!

If you get the bus or tram, make sure you keep your ticket, as the Students’ Union Volunteer Centre will reimburse your expenses!
