Every day in the UK, 2.25 million pieces of litter are dropped and around 122 tons of cigarette butts and cigarette-related litter is discarded on the streets, degrading the planet for everyone, making our living spaces less pleasant and costing billions each year to clean up in the UK alone. Organised by UoN students, volunteers are heading to the streets of Lenton to do a mass litter pick. All the equipment will be provided, you just need to turn up and roll up your sleeves!

Where? Around the centre of Lenton (we will meet outside Sainsbury’s Local, Derby Road)
We are Roots Out, a team of people working towards making a sustainable community allotment in Bullwell that also educates the community on urban growing and cooking of edible, nutritious food. We are aiming to bring people closer with each other and with nature. There’s tonnes to do! Volunteer tasks include planting, weeding, raking, watering, planting seedlings and painting things like fences. See what you feel like on the day!

Oxfam is a movement of millions of people, all working towards one goal – an end to poverty for everyone. A key part of this is raising vital funds and they do this through the Oxfam charity shops which exist on most high streets. As a volunteer you’ll help out in the shop either serving customers, sorting through clothing donations or checking the value of donated home-ware before it goes on sale.

Souprunners is a non-profit organisation led by students here at the University of Nottingham. They also have a sister branch at Trent. They seek to provide much needed support to homeless and vulnerable people in Nottingham, as well as raise awareness about the homelessness and educate our volunteers so that they can provide the best support and information to those who need it.
